To honor Haylee Lewis, Senate is encouraging us all to 'Orange Out for Haylee’ on Friday. There are ribbons available during both lunches at no cost if you’d like to write a message of comfort to Haylee's family, and if you’d like to make a monetary donation to help the family with expenses, donations will be accepted at lunch, or use the QR code posted around the school which links to the family's GoFundMe page.

Our state-bound Forensics Team will host an Evening of Champions at 6pm in the Auditorium. Anyone is welcome to come see what Forensics is all about as our team prepares for States by performing their craft for an audience. The show is free, but we will be accepting at will donations to help with the journey to States. Another way you can support our forensics team is to dine their fundraiser at Noodles & Co on Monday 4-8pm. Be sure to mention PNHS Forensics.

The Northern Light news staff earned a school record 25 awards at the state competition yesterday! Cortney Chow led the staff with 6 total awards, including one first place, one second place, and four honorable mentions in addition to being named to the all-state team and being runner-up designer of the year for the state of Michigan. Ben Lewis, Issra Said, and Keegan Tenney also received first places. Megan Rinock won two third places and one honorable mention for her cartoons, and honorable mentions were also won by Ben Lewis, Meredith Ablao, Deidre Crowell, Cameron Schaefer, Abby Seeber, and Carter Landis. The overall publication also received a Bronze award in the team competition.
Last night the varsity baseball team swept Gull Lake 4-3 and 7-3. Leading hitters were Noah Hecht and Andy Barta. Pitching well for the Huskies were Cam French, Parker Brey and Brendan Perry. The team is now 7-3 on the season and takes on Loy Norrix tomorrow at home.
The Portage Women’s Lacrosse team beat Vicksburg last night 17-12. Goal leader was our very senior Lexi Kuhns. Please come out and watch the teams play Saline this Saturday behind West Middle School. Varsity starts at 10:00 a.m. and JV starts at noon.
